Why don't dealers list on AutoTrader?
Hi,
Just noticed that the P-Dealers don't list on autotrader. I pretty much assumed everyone lists on their
Any reason why they wouldn't, is it that costly? I always wondered how much dealers pay to list. I notice all the small scale dealers list on autotrader and many of them also host their site using them.

Well I am looking in the GTA area. I set the autotrader to 250km distance and I don't see the car on their so for sure it isn't listing all of them that I can see on the dealer sites themselves.

Yes, they only put handful of cars online *mainly the one's with odd configuration* that aren't selling otherwise. For eg I've yet to see a clean 997.2S 6MT , as soon they hit the dealerships they are gone.
They apparently want you in their dealerships

That had a nice black 911 2005 I was looking at, I hit refresh and it said "sold"
If the sell that fast, they can easily add a few grand to the total and make more $$.

Interesting..I thought it was just a "shortage" of cars here...but maybe the thing to do is contact the dealerships and get a ring when stuff comes in..

My friend/client sells at Pfaff Porsche and when we talk about cars, I'm always amazed at how in demand Porsches are. For example, I have a friend that wants a new C4S and John said that they pretty much never get an unsold model landing at their store. You have to factory order as you won't just find one on the floor of a dealer.

Dealer packages on autotrader come with a set # of cars you can advertise at once, so a dealer will pick the ones that are best advertised online, whether that's because they're not moving in the showroom, or because it's a sexy one that will draw people in. But generally you wouldn't buy a package that would allow you to list all your inventory, when your inventory is as big as someone like Pfaff's. It'd be wasted money, plus a nightmare to keep updated.
