Wanted Orange Kitten
Wife is on the hunt for an Orange Kitten (paint to sample, low miles, no accidents).
She says they are hard to find this time of year. Someone recommended a male over female.
Any kitten experts here? Please share you advice. Any reason to wait until spring? It will probably be a mostly indoor cat.
She has been following humane society website as they post pics when they get kittens.

Rescue...don't buy. Do a quick search on Google for rescues in Toronto and you'll find fully vetted kitties from reputable shelters. You're saving a life and the cat will lovingly adopt your family. Win Win. I've supported shelters for years.

Orange cats or kittens are also called tabbys and are
Always male.
The female version is called a Calico and are pretty fiesty, not very stranger friendly.
White / orange / black / grey mix
I had a calico and she was very friendly with us but also could have a bit of a temper and completely stayed away from people she didnt know.
If you're looking for an orange cat, it will always be male...tabby.

There are 80% males and only 20% females.
Below is from Internet:
There are More Males
This is just downright interesting. We bet you didn’t know that there are far more male orange tabby cats than there are females. In fact, there are 80 males to every 20 females. With statistics like this, it’s no wonder these are such common cats. With so few females to choose from, there are always some cats mating and creating new litters. The same statistic is true of several other cat breeds, and no one knows why there are so many more males than there are females in any breed of these particular cats.

My Calico lived to be 18
Maybe she was fiesty because I tormented her with
Mini sugar donuts.
Good luck o.p
Hope you find what you're looking for.
I just had an epiphany:
My cat died April 2014
I bought my 911 June 2014
Hmmmmm
Quite an expensive way to help overcome my sorrow

How bad does she want one?
My father in-law has 3, 4, maybe more in a barn... if she can catch one and promises to spay/neuter, she can probably have one for free. I will try to catch one on Saturday... and I will txt you with a pic and gender if I do. I have a cage and stuff to transport it safely as well...

Burning Brakes
By far, I've found the orange tabby to be the "coolest" of the cats - different personality - occasionally I run into a grumpy one (then again, in my line of work, I tend to see pets at their worst). Overall, I definitely have an affinity for the Orange fellows. Keep looking in the shelters etc - they do pop up but go quickly!
Best of luck.
As for rhymes, Blorange does, a hill in Wales...

Fixed males make better pets IMO. Shorthair males have fewer urine tract issues than longhair males, also that nasty hairball thing. I am embarrassed to admit that my wife has five (5) cats at the moment.
