Congrats! I love my 996 c4s too. By any chance, did you buy yours off a gent who worked at the airport? If so - I remember calling him up on his. Sounded like a great car

The engine actually only has 10K on it. It was a rebuild put in by the previous owner. The IMS is actually a roller bearing. I am putting into storage for the winter, and having Keltech have a look at it...I was planning on putting in a IMS solution.
The clutch is stiff, but that is in comparison to the last manual I drove, which had 1/3 the horsepower. It is not "this is a great tractor" stiff, but if it was in a honda civic I would be concerned. The owner of Keltech has driven it, and he thinks it is in great shape.

Stiff clutch pedal can be from a missing clutch pedal helper spring too in the 996. When the sting start to fail it makes a squeaking noise and many just remove it to quite it down. This makes the pedal a lot stiffer. The replacement part (spring in a plastic box/housing) is pretty cheap, around $50, and easy to install.
So I had an IMS solution installed over the winter.
The car had an MB Motorsports rebuild in it when I bought it. I knew that MB was using roller bearings in their rebuilds. This is the bearing that came out of my car:
So now you know. And knowing is half the battle. The other half of the battle involves guns.
