I would guess around $10 g's for a quality re-paint with proper prep work.

I used Pfaff auto-body when I had the ducktail painted. Perfect color match.
I used Pfaff when they were in Newmarket. They did nice work and there prices were suprisingly reasonable.

427 has a nice shop as well and I know a few people that used them and liked their work.

I have had 2 cars repaired at LAB and Richard is outstanding. He says he gets lots of business from 427 when people decide they don't want to buy the car all over again.

His work is outstanding.

just one additional point, these cars were NOT Porsches. GF car and a friends car who went on my recommendation, both were thrilled.

Do you mean with the shop doing proper prep work, or with proper prep work already being done before the car is brought in?

That would be the shop doing all the work. Even a labour rate of $50 per hour, it can add up pretty fast. I don't know what body shop labour rates are these days. If you do your own prep work you can save if your prep work is done properly. If the prep work is sub-par it will show in the final result. If you want the shop to just paint the car that's all they will do.
Paint isn't cheap either.
If it was my car I would remove the glass. Nothing looks worse than new paint work with old rubber seals.
Your 72 has value, a good paint job will only increase the value.
I went through it with my old car.
