4 POST LIFT - Raising Garage Door
#16
Some awesome feed back guys! thanks for all the contact info's everyone PM'ed me much appreciated!
One thing I'd like a bit more detail on, is did any of you guys have large slopes to your floor? anything in the 3" or greater?
Some have mentioned here how they overcame this with shims under the posts and adjusting the ladders, did anyone have any major issues overcoming this? Just trying to nail everything down before I pull the trigger.

The slope scares the s##t out of me. My concern is a runaway car when you are taking it off.
But, we all have to deal with the cards we have.
I bought my Liftmaster 8500 from Newmarket Garage doors and paid maybe $20 over Amazon. For that $20 I got to see the one in the showroom and get some install (and return if needed) advice from the owner. He also gave me $10 off on a remote. If you install it yourself (easy and actually enjoyable) I'd go to a bricks and mortar store.
They wanted I think $200 to do the install and that came with a tune up on the door which is normally $100 or so.
My point is I'd either do it all myself or have someone do all of it for you.
PM me if you still want to know about my experience with Liftsuperstore as it sounds like you have moved on.

I would rather do the install myself as I am pretty handy, only thing I would be concerned with would be drilling the concrete for the studs. Just making sure I do it straight etc. as for the garage height relocation I can do everything myself technically, but I would rather not unwind and wind the spring.

I have a 2.5 inch slope front to back and it is no problem with my lift. My bigger issue is the 3/4 inch slope left to right. That causes the lift to lean slightly. The lift installer said it is a non-issue, but I hate seeing it!

The Direct lift came with the castor kit which allows me to roll the lift around.
And I added the scissor jack option to get wheels up.
And I built it myself over a weekend.

Late to the discussion, but I mounted my garage door opener off to the side to facilitate my maxjax lift, however you may need a new opener if you are raising the door tracks, or make up a longer bracket.
