Default New top gear

Well it's about to launch with Chris Harris and Matt Leblanc of friends of all people. This should be interesting
Guest on the first show is good friend of Ronan's Sabine Schmitz

Should be a good watch for the curious.

I just can't take "Joey" seriously as a automotive journalist.

It looks like it will be fun. I'm certainly going to check it out.

Il give him the benefit of the doubt. I was reading an interview and he said he got into show business to go to exotic locals and see the world. He ended up in a lot in Burbank for 12 years. So now he is realy enjoying life as he loves cars and has been all over the world with the show.

Loved and watched old Top Gear for years and even with Clarkson's dissing of American stuff and extolling of anything British, still was a hoot to watch. New Americam version both old and new was , is pure kaka. New TG remains to be seen, but have doubts.

Wasn't Matt an embassador for Ducati for years? The guy is a true petrolhead...

Radio jockeys who interrupt themselves...brilliant. Tossers. I could barely understand the radio bit...

Shouldn't be a problem. Top Gear has always been a sitcom and not journalism.

In fact it's obviously impossible to call any automotive reporting journalism as it's really simply automotive writing.

Flying to spain first class to drive a Porsche 911 on a racetrack all expenses paid by the manufacturer cannot be considered journalism.

That said, they pay for their production and appear less beholden to automotive PR and are not beholden at all to automotive advertising but still...they hardly make any claim that the show consititutes usable or reliable information.

Just finished watching the first episode and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I had low expectations and those were definitely exceed.

I liked how the kept the main themes but changed them up a little (like the modified "star in a reasonably priced car"). Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were pretty funny and they confronted the US vs UK personalities head on.
The Viper ACR was a great car to start with, and the Top Gun theme made my wife happy since that was her favourite move of all time.

My family enjoyed the show. I'm not convinced that it can survive, but I was also pretty convinced that Top Gear was already dying a slow death for the past few seasons.

Definitely watching again next week.
