Default Mobil 1 0W-40 on Sale at CTC

Yes my brothers from other mothers...it's that time of the year again when a 4.4 liter jug of Mobil 1 0W-40 is on sale at CTC for 35% off.

Stock up while you can...your Metzger engine will thank you for doing so!!

If anyone lives close to the border the US Walmarts have the Mobil 1 0W40 @ $22.88 USD (which is regular price for them) which is ~$30 CAD

You're bang on the mark iceman....was 45% off in March!

Guess the small price rebound for a BOO justifies the smaller discount

+1

I have read that Mobil1 in US is different (not as good) as CDN Mobil1.

Interesting, I will have to look into that..I have both versions in my garage so I will read through the labels and see if I can find anything different between the 2

a few months ago a member posted long analysis of oils and he has a friend who works for mobil one and said the formulations for Canada are very good...not so much in the US.
he also bashed Castrol.
not sure how valid his points are but I have used mobil 1 in Canada for years and was thinking about switching to Castrol, but stuck with M1 so far.
On my older cars I like Brad Penn oil.

yeah I posted a little while ago about something on a Castrol Bottle that said for US sale only . But it had all the proper certifications so in she went. have absolutely no complaints. Okay so the bottle is really cool looking too.

id love to get a can of garage art though if anyone comes across any extra ones ( Porsche classic oil can )

I`d be curious to hear if thats true about Mobil One - I`ve heard US Porsche owners say its shears quite quickly and if its a lesser product than the Canadian version then that explains a lot

Theoretically it is possible - Canada does have a different climate (particularly in the winter) than the US

I find that 5150 Motorsports has the best pricing for all 3 types of crush washers that you'll need (crankcase, oil reservoir & turbos)

I looked through the tech specs for both versions of the oil and it looks the engine oil is slightly different between the countries. The Canadian version has a higher viscosity @ 40C and 100C and a higher flash point, but the viscosity index is pretty much the same between the 2 versions

Danny this is very interesting info.

Since switching to Castrol, the leak on the 44 that was there with M1 has stopped, my garage floor is happy again.
