I think its time we put this to a vote to see how the majority feels about this. Our forum has been flooded with OT discussions lately. Some of us have a problem with that. Others not as much.
Just to be clear, "off topic" refers to content not related to any Porsche subject and/or its competition.
Edit: Your vote will not be visible to the public.

+1 to both classified section and better OT section, especially since most of the active members live in the GTA or surrounding area, and most of us have met each other, so its more of a small community compared to some of the other regional sections.
I thought the old system worked fine. If you didn't like someone then you put them on Ignore and moved on. Lots of people can be annoying including myself
Jason puerile behavior at times clearly rubbed some people the wrong way (and I think its pretty clear who those people are) but I would like to attend some of his drives because apparently they were well worth it.
Adding an OT section just adds more clutter to the site but if that's the only way to deal with this sort of stuff then lets do it. To me the vast majority of content here has some level of OT in it but whatever works. Someone must know who the moderator is??
Someone get Jason's email so we can at least organize some drives!!
Also who is the moderator here? It appears that "Rennlist Canada classifieds" link is broken in the "sub forum" section. And maybe instead of having an "OT" section, we can just have a GTA section in the sub forum as there is a "Sandor" (aka west of Manitoba) section already.
I have no interest in paying so setting up an OT section eliminates me from any Canadian OT section. With the ban on 356 I have even less desire to be a paying member!!

The vast majority of Canadians on this forum are not members anyway. No reason why an OT section should only be available to paying members. That would be like 3 people here.

Not sure how you would implement an OT section just for Canada..would there be an OT section for each of the other countries /regions?...if each region wanted its own the entire site would be festooned with OT sections..........
would be strange to have it just for one region. if you just have one standing thread then all the topics would be intermixed which obviously would not work.
to be fair, the 'Canada' section is BY FAR the most active regional section.
No reason the OT and classifieds have to be member-only, I'd be all for 'users' having equal-usage...having the sections just separates the action a bit.... The classified threads we have, while a nice idea, are ineffective/horrible to use/bandwidth killers....
It works because we've achieved critical mass. More posts equals more members viewing. And OT posts contribute to this equation. I would say leave OT posts here for now.
I believe the moderator is Bob Roulough from Montreal. there also is a guy from Barrie that works for interbrands and I think he is a moderator as well.
The moderators for each forum are listed at the bottom of a forum's topic page. Canada has Bob Rouleau and John D. (original creator of rennlist).
I really don't think we need an OT section in this forum. By its nature it already is an OT forum since it is not a technical forum or is it specific to a model of the marque. I've said before though, that threads tend to be hijacked for bizarre reasons all the time. If you have a new topic you want to discuss, debate or argue, start a new thread devoted to your topic. I don't think IB has set a limit as to how many threads we can have here.
