Adding an OT section just adds more clutter to the site but if that's the only way to deal with this sort of stuff then lets do it. To me the vast majority of content here has some level of OT in it but whatever works. Someone must know who the moderator is??

Someone get Jason's email so we can at least organize some drives!!
If Jason is banned for good I will organize the drives.

I actually wanted to PM you about this after seeing your new GTG thread "rules". How is this not a way of controlling what is being posted? As long as the content is within the posting guidelines, I should be allowed to post whatever and wherever I want. You might consider me a troll and add me to your ignore list, thats fine, but if each thread comes with its own rules, where is this going to take us?

When I joined RL, we were always considered different than PCA, where you have to carefully watch what you say. We even called some of our GTGs "unti social", because we were known to say what we want, we can be loud at times and some PCA members did not like that. Why do I get a feeling that we are turning into a PCA forum here?

Why do you feel the need to threaten people if they post anything not to your liking?

No I don't consider you a troll and you are certainly not on my "ignore" list. You really should have PM'd me if you feel this strongly about it.

First of all, if you're going to quote me, quote me accurately. I didn't post "rules" I posted "requests". I'm not an Admin/Moderator so I can't make any rules. My requests were based on the fact that I was seeing more and more posts in my original thread that really went south; 1 guy decided to post a for sale ad for his "friend's" car when the classified section is 1 click above! It is within everyones rights to ask a mod to move or delete a post in your own thread that has nothing to do with the topic. Threads and posts are moved all the time in most of the forums on RL. No guarantee that the Mods will agree to do it, but you can request it.

Turning into the PCA?...Really?!?...Wow, I guess it's been awhile since you've come out to a GTG. Have you forgotten how completely casual these meets are? That you don't even have to own a Porsche to show up (unlike the PCA)?

You don't have to watch most of what you say on RL or at the GTG, but in my opinion reposting photos of people at a meet just to talk trash about someone's physical looks is not cool in my books and it is certainly not an expression of free speech, it's bullying pure and simple. I've dealt with daughters that were bullied in school and the pattern is the same as what I've seen here. The perpetrator and his fan base's usual defence is that it was all in "jest" and that people should develop a thick skin. I think we're all better than that, Stan. I really don't want people who want to come out to our GTGs to share their enthusiasm of Porsches to be concerned that they might be ridiculed on the forum by a minority of discontented individuals. We can certainly agree to disagree without resorting to name calling and personal attacks and for those who prefer that style of discourse, as the Mods have suggested they can ante up for a paid membership and head over to the Politics and Controversy section of OT; it's the wild west in there where you'll need a suit of armor to protect your thick skin.

And in case you were wondering, I've never reported anyone to a Mod to have them banned. I've reported spam threads and ignored people plenty though.

what a mess this is turning into.

I think all Phil was saying was to try and prevent clutter in the thread so it is clear to people where and when to meet up and can stay on top of any changes we might make. I think Stan took this as censorship, and not what Phil was trying to communicate. I am sure they will sort it all.
Personally I have no problem with Canadian specific OT as it is usually listed in the title. I just don't click on it if I am not interested. It would be nice to have more Porsche content on a Porsche forum , but it is what it is.

Funny you mention that... I was going to actually become a paying member this week... then I saw the 356/NobleGT3 ban and decided against it. I don't really want to be a paying member to a group of whiners and children...

I get it but for most of the car stuff I expect we all go to our model specific forums for tech info. The Cdn section for me has always been more about OT stuff or slightly OT stuff like Hershey or the fall run or who can lend me a tool etc

cant we all just get along and drive

As I am not a member, I didn't feel I should have a vote and I think I'm in the minority as far as being a non member.

If we had an OT section I guess I'd be out.

This should be considered an OT section as there really isn't any technical information here.

Thanks Clive, that's exactly right.

Btw: Stan and I have worked it out offline without a single insult being hurled at one another. Aka, like grown men.
