Any Rennlisters in QC that could check out a car?
I'm in the market for a 996 and looking around at the slim offerings in Canada, I'm probably gonna have to travel a bit to buy a car. There's a car I'm interested in listed at a dealership in QC. I've bought cars long distance before (even taking flyers on sight unseen purchases) but the more info I can get the better.
The car is an 02 911 Carrera 4S, it's at this dealer:
Auto Select AL
11052, boul. Henri Bourassa
Québec, Québec
G1G 3X7
Phone: (418) 626-3737
Toll Free: 1 (888) 719-4207
Cell: (418) 569-7775
Fax: (418) 634-1158
Is there anyone on the board in Quebec that knows anything about this dealer's reputation? Anyone with a bit of time that could go and check the car out and let me know if it would be worth taking the next step to a PPI?
Matt

I have 3 sales reps in QC that could take a closer look and likely know about the dealer reputation as well. You did notice the note about the rebuilt engine correct?

Yes, he has a receipt for $12.5K for the rebuild, would def have a PPI scope it for scoring in the cylinders and to check on all the usual 996 issues.

why? the rust issue? I figure that a 996 while not impossible to DD isn't the most likely to have been DD'ed through an Eastern winter?
That's what a PPI is for?
One can usually pick up the signs of rattiness in a car that hasn't been cared for.

they disclosed that to me. The nearest priced C4S is one for $33K near me. This one is $8K cheaper, one has to expect some shame in the history for that price differential....

Because Quebec cars, motorcycles , sleds etc are known to be crap , junk , stolen , crashed and shady for the most part,
That province has a lot of "characters" shall we say.

I was told by a Toyota dealer that they wouldn't even buy a car from a fellow Toyota dealer in Quebec.
When I asked why as it was CPO, they said they didn't have enough time to tell me the stories.

Not sure if it's one of these but they are using some of the same pictures for what seems like 2 different cars:
