P Shop Advice
Greetings
I recently acquired an '80 SC Targa and am looking for advice on local shops to run an accurate leakdown and get a general condition report on my largely stock engine. Been advised that Henri C at RM on Evans AVe in Etobicoke is v good.
Are there others I should look to contact instead?
I'm not looking to set this car up for the track, just want to get a detailed and reliable opinion of the engine/trans.
I am new to P cars, and would appreciate a local and experienced opinion.
TIA
Joe

Henry at Refined, Brent at Hunter, and EA Autowerks are all knowledgeable and very capable shops that can maintain, modify, and adjust your car without concern. They all have more than enough work and enough reputation that they will not screw you over or lie to you... they don't have the time to be dishonest and they are too busy to argue with you over petty things... all good shops. It's a dying breed however...

you also could go to Oakville as they have cheap shop rate for old cars, I think $100/hour.
btw normally you do the leakdown before you buy.
Also since you are new here; you must post obligatory pics of your car and tell us about it and is it your first and what do you plan to use it for?
Welcome to Rennlist. Others will invite you to the GTG.

Thanks all for the heads-up.
I'm looking for basic engine health; mostly orig car with all stock components AFAIK...I've had it since the summer and have enjoyed some fun drives in S Ont.
Car is from Northern Ont and sold to me by an acquaintance for fair costs.
Its a Targa with orig and great cond'n wheels (painted crests), seemingly orig Moca Brown paint... no 'tail, no suspension mods. Its an "80 that shows its age and patina - but man is it fun to drive the Caledon backroads with the top off...mmmmmmm
Burned off 1 litre of Castrol Syn in 4 full tankfuls since then.
As far as cars - I'm an Alfa guy - late 60's early 70's Jr/GTV plus S3 Spider, so there's lots to drive around here, but the P car got lots of drives this summer and fall. I'm not an expert at the rear eng config yet...there's always a voice from my teenage Road & Track days about ..."trailing throttle oversteer," so just taking it easy until I can get to a Porsche driving day somewhere. Thats for the spring and I will look those up on this site - yeah/no? And yes, my hands are always in one of these things - I do most of my own simple maintenance and repairs.
Photo of AR Junior 1300 - a blast of an engine around the city...Mclaren was a Pfaff owned car.
