No wonder a few spectators got killed from time to time in Group B days.
Although it might not have been how fast the cars were but rather the occasional slow spectator.
Some of those people look nuts.
Cars are cool though.
I was at the Rally of the Tall Pines last weekend to help a close friend's son who runs an old Subaru in the open class. Made it to a couple of spectator areas, and had a demo ride during the shakedown Friday night, and was impressed just how fast those cars are.
Intake restrictors limit them to about 300 HP, but careful turbo tuning results in that HP from about 3500 RPM, approaching 500 lb-ft of torque.
That, plus aggressive anti-lag setups make for a pretty neat car.
And the anti lag popping and banging away makes it interesting to watch.
At least until it gets cold.
My friends son ( who won it in 2014) was in solid second but a flat in the fourth
from last stage took out a rear brake line so he DNF'd.

i was one of these crazy fans in the group B days/ Today it seems nuts but then it was the norm. I still can feel the heat from the blue flames from the exhaust of the RS200 Amazing spectacle back then

You guys suck... I have sooo much work to do this morning and here is a thread about rally racing, the Tall Pines, and Porsches flying around... that's like crack and meth to me!
