Do spacers not throw off the geometry of the suspension and therefore put extreme stress on the components?

Not exactly, within tolerances of the oem offsets your fine. though filling out your wheel wells past the side will cause a lot more aero resistance, acel & top speed will suffer

I looked last night mine are 20mm ecs tuning spacers anodized black. I have about 400 km of use.

What size tire on rear?
stock are 11" wide; ET45 with 295/30/18 tires

you want to make sure that the offset is correct with new wheels and spacer come close to stock, 45's may be to much and 40 mm might be perfect. To little and the tire gets closer to the inner wheel fenders which you don't want.

You're running a correct length bolt for the wheel and spacer?

Yes, these are directly from H&R with the bolt on spacers. I'm using the original bolts to bolt the rims to the spacers as well.

Visiting doc so decided to take a photo in daylight with the setup. Another solution is to simply remove the splash guard inside the rear wheel well since that's what the tires rub in big dips by the rail tracks by he house.

I would not remove the inner wheel well cover.

I had no problem with my H&R springs with koni yellow combo. The ride is pretty comfortable.

What you probably need is proper wheels for widebody. Beside, wouldn't 45mm spacers give a lot of stress on the wheel bearings?
