Default Boxes to ship wheels?

Any tips on where to find large boxes to ship wheels with tires. Tires are 25.6" tall, so I need a box at least 26" x 26" x 15"

I'm going to try some moving companies, no luck at storage placed or u-haul.

boxes not really required, imo

I bought a set of wheels w/tires from a RL'r and they shipped with
3/4" or so heavy duty felt discs plastic wrapped on each side

try FedEx,..I've never discovered the actual name for the felt type disk
but that was how they were shipped

Yes I have seen that, but it scares me a little. I did find 26 x 26 x 12 double wall boxes at uline, but they only come in 10 packs. And $10 each.

I think I will ship as you suggest, if I strike out with uline tomorrow. Hoping one of my print vendors has an account with them and can get 4 vs 10.

But I never thought of the felt, that's better than the card board only method I read on the net.

I would contact Zook @ Simply Tire. They order wheels all the time, surely they throw away the boxes.

I once purchased a set of wheels with tires from US and they arrived with 1/2" plywood discs zip tied to the spokes. The spokes where wrapped for protection too.

I will give him a shout, but I'm shipping wheels with tires. I actually have a set of wheel boxes from carcones from my recently re-finished cup 1's. But yes it's worth a shot to call him. Thanks

I've bought mounted and balanced sets numerous times. They are always wrapped similarly and never suffered any damage. They use foam sheet under cardboard discs, banding and plastic wrap. Cheap, simple, very effective.

Any performance shop that sells large 20-24 inch pickup wheels will have boxes to throw away ... the 20 inch ProComp wheels that I bought for my F150 came in big *** boxes !

Cheers
Phil

You can always just make your own cardboard boxes. I've done this before using hot glue.

Boxes not needed.
If your shipping a long distance, you could strap to a pallet.

Cardboard on the wheels and then wrap with pallet wrap is the other way
The couriers or movers like that as then they can just roll the wheels and not have to pick them up.

Home Depot sells various sized boxes. Shipped a set of 16" BBS's last month, and 2 fit perfectly in each Medium Size Heavy Duty box from Home Depot.

Read the thread in the link below for some good instructions and options.

Home Depot has the perfect size to ship 4 Porsche wheels. Front and rear one box, then repeat. Very little packing needed. I shipped two set of wheels last year, 8's and 11's x 19. Fit perfectly and cost $4.00 each.
