Fantastic news. I really hope it happens.
Go to Victoria for a day and then take the ferry down to the Ridge the following day.
Am I the only one who thinks Area 27 will eventually become available for DE events?

I've seen the rough layout from the air a while back its either Shawnigan Lake or Cowichan can't remember but it was being built!!
This was on the VI PCA site -- so it appears its now paved!!
For the last several months, rumours have been circulating from all directions regarding a potential track opening on Vancouver Island.
Well, it’s time to start unwrapping a piece of “our little secret” and officially confirm the newest addition to our Dealer Group. In the coming months, we will update you on all track related news of what could be the most exciting announcement in our 50-year history.
To give you a glimpse into the technical side of things, just note that a Mercedes-Benz SLS in the hands of a race car driver will set a time of 90.31 seconds, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS at 83.21 seconds, a VW GTI at 104.75 seconds, a BMW M3 at 92.48 seconds and an Audi S5 at 93.14 seconds.
Have we got you excited? For more information or updates regarding the track, check back soon.

Way too rich for me though. Private members only, $30K buy in and $3-4K annual fee. I guess it's so all those NHLers in Kelowna have something to do in the off-season besides golf.
It will be interesting to see if they can make their current economic model work or if they do need to open the track up to non-member events. I suspect you're right.

This has been"common" knowledge with the local motorsport crowd for over a year but like Fight Club we don't talk about it.
The builders are GAIN (German Auto Import Network) who own all the German car dealerships in Victoria, plus some others. Location is off the highway to Lake Cowichan about 4-5 km off Highway 1 just north of Duncan. The designer is Tilke of F1 fame (infamy depending on your point of view). Main track around 2 kms , large skid pad, go kart track, and off road track.
The BIG QUESTION is access. Nobody knows yet for sure, lots of opinions flying around. Dealership customers only, country club members only, brand club members access, maybe even local club access.

Once the members get bored with it, and they need to have corner workers for the odd member that shows up they might have to start allowing tracks days for clubs to help offset the expenses and keep track staff....

Well the only active track in BC is Mission at 2.1 km. I've done 1:25s in a 993 C4S and 1:19s- 1:20s in a '04 GT3 both on Yok AD08R. Hopefully this track will have more character than Mission which is dead flat and has lots of concrete.

I don't see what Mission's lack of elevation change and character has to do with the fact that the proposed VI track is only 2km long.
We actually have a track open to the public here in Vernon, but it's an 800m banked oval.
