I remember travelling on some Scottish roads as a young lad with my dad driving our Ford Escort Mk II as he pretended we were rallying. Will never forget the grins we had. He taught me all about skids, slides and car control from a young age. After passing my test I drove him in a newer Ford Fiesta for a similar experience and a few years after that with him and an Uncle in an Austin Metro of all things. Most memorable quote from my uncle of the trip - "Oh FFS son! That's the first time I've ever thrown up and swall-ied ma ain puke in one motion! Ya pair a bastards!". Said right after we jumped a hump-back bridge and hit a dip right afterwards. He asked me never to drive like that again. I didn't - at least when he was in the car. ;-)
Wish I could fly him out and just drive him somewhere in the 911. He'd have a heart attack with the acceleration it has compared to the old Metro. Snow and ice is almost as much fun as the gravel too.
