Its a sad day indeed

I don't mind putting the car away too much. It's sort of closure on another great season of cruising and de days. I think their is a heightened sense of enjoyment for us northerners because we know the season comes to an end.I have often thought that if I lived in Florida,it would probably be my daily driver and maybe even become a bit of a pain in the butt to climb in and out of a lowered car on a daily basis, all the repairs that would probably be ongoing due to it being an older car(87 944t).Not too mention it would be an endless choice of multiple track days forever.
I know that sounds great but it certainly would be very hard on the car and a constant flow of money to keep it in tiptop shape. When I hop in it in the summer and I'm going for a track weekend,it just feels like a treat and is so exciting. Yes,I miss it in the winter but I have a sweet sense of anticipation that continues to build, especially in March!!!

I'm going to keep driving until I see the white stuff fall. Up here in Grey Bruce we can see lots of it accumulate and it can be tricky enough even with a vehicle with more clearance (we have a Honda CRV which becomes our primary winter vehicle). Others comments about being more concerned about other drivers is very valid - in past years I've had to deliberately drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid someone barreling out of control and coming right at me and have had a lot of close calls with other minor slips and slides. I'm sure I'll consider taking the p-car out for a run on the odd day where we don't have it blowing sideways and have a bit of fun testing the all wheel drive but for the most part I'll also be happy knowing that the euphoria of a Spring return is not too far away.

Not to venture off topic too much, but the GTA has alot of, ummm, non Canadian born residents from countries that dont get alot of snow.
Born in Winnipeg and raised in Toronto, my best winter driving skills came when I was in highschool, driving with my pals, doing donuts in snow covered parking lots in my parents car.
Little did I know then, the invaluable training I was actually learning.
If you're teaching your kids to drive, find an empty snow covered lot and have some fun.....

I've driven my C4S (bought it new) through the first two winters. When I decided to pressure wash the bottom at the end of the second winter, i was upset to see rust on every nut and bolt underneath. That was enough for me.
I've got an '11 Cayenne S to deal with Porsche withdrawal in the winter, but the C4S was waaay more fun in the snow. So I am not sad at all.

as of yesterday, brine is on the bridges and overpasses in my neck of the woods... ....
wish they would hold off the salt/brine til temps actually go to freezing at night/inclement weather...typical Brantford winter, burn up the budget early on when completely unnecessary, and then run out of budget for plows etc. when they are needed in a couple months
Rant over
P.S. guess I can't complain, still driving the summer toy into November...
