Its a sad day indeed
Last drive of the season for me today.
Will be storing the car this weekend.
One of the pitfalls of living in The Great White North I guess.
So, what to do to unbleaken (?) my sombre mood?
Get a kitten?
4 hands massage?
Go to Disney World?
Take the cover off, grab a case of beer, sit in a lawnchair in the garage and wait for Spring?
Im leaning towards #4.

It is a sad day for me too, but only because I have to put on my smaller, less grippy snow tires.

I second option #6. The Germans and other north Europeans drive their Porsche in the winter, why are so many people being so "American" with a car that is meant to be driven?!?!

Same here. Took my 5 year old out for lunch and a final drive.

The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Scandinavia and Great Britain primarily use calcium chloride and magnesium chloride on their roads which is less harmful to cars.
We use primarily salt.
And most European drivers are actually capable of driving in bad weather.

I recently had to replace the front wheel bearings on our 2001 Odyssey. I can't believe the damage salt does to cars. Nuts on the 911 that haven't been removed in 40 years, all the while being heat cycled countless times, are easier to get off that some of the nuts I encountered on the van, which is only 13 years old.

And you honestly think that if we used those products that the winter-phobic here would drive their cars in the winter....
There are 2 types of Pcar people in the colder climes. Those that store their cars because "my car will rust/my car will get destroyed by some other driver" etc etc
And those that drive and enjoy the experience for all 12 months and take the devastating loss in value that comes from a car that has been driven in the winter ()
I can see putting an older car away but a +996, just don't see the point as I just like driving it too much
To each their own but just not they way I would (do) go

As for winter driving - just mounted my winter tires and threw in the weathertech mats, 997 is all ready for the great white north =)
I'll just try and give it a good underbody wash often to wash off the salt.

Buy a few sleds and a snowboard.
As much as I love Summer and driving my 951, Winter is even more fun!

What's all this chat about putting cars away now? Both of my "keepers" are used until the day before it snows and taken out on warm, snow and salt free winter days to keep fluids circulating and for the fun of it. Been doing this for 37 years with the Z, a real rust candidate, with no negative consequences.
