Odd date conversation
I recently went on a date where the woman, whom I had just met last week briefly at a coffee shop, asked me what my favorite types of cars are. I mentioned Porsches. At this point she did not know that I own a Porsche as I rode my motorcycle today and had been on a motorcycle last week as well.
Her immediate response to my mentioning Porsches was to starting babbling on and on like an idiot about how she would only have a 911 and never have a Boxster because a Boxster "is a girl's car" and they are "not as powerful as 911s."
I let this idiot finish and then asked "oh, do you have a 911?" To which she said "no." I then asked "have you ever driven a Boxster, or any Porsche?" to which she said "no." (her current car is a Toyota Solara). I then asked what she actually knows about these cars and why she says that about the Boxster, which, I explained, is one of the best cars for the money and one of the best roadsters in the world. She replied "oh, well, my brother told me all that." I asked "does he have a Porsche?" and she said "no." I then said "oh, but he is into driving and has driven cars and this is his opinion based on experience?" and she said "no."
She then said "oh my god! You don't have a Boxster? Do you?" to which I replied "no, but I have a Porsche." She asked "which one?" so I showed her a picture of my Cayman S and she had no clue what it was.
Anyway, I think this is the part where people reply with "cool story bro."

When you purchase anything that might be considered "entry level" you are giving the envious an invitation to bring you down a little. It makes them feel better about themselves.

You must admit though, she was technically correct in that the Boxster is "not as powerful as 911s."

Great tail...at least I'm hoping.
Got that with my Boxster and that's just wrong. It's like saying that about a Mini.
Anyone whose been on the track with either vehicle knows. I loved my Boxster and I know I'm not alone.

Thats funny. I showed up to my first date with a brand new 997.2 TT. We went for a drive after, and she knew it was a good car but was not really into it. 4 1/2 years later I still have them both; might trade up one of them though :-)
