Good Day,
I was hoping to ask for some recommendations for a good body shop that can perform some rust repairs. The car will likely need new pans, etc.
Any thoughts on Greater Hamilton area shops that are well regarded ...would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Around here I don't think there's a shop I would trust with that kind of in-depth work on a longhood. As for replacement panels, these guys are among the best in the world, and just happen to be nearby: http://restoration-design.com/

Actually, poking through their website it looks like they have a list of restoration shops. None here in town, though. The closest is Legendary in Oakville. They'll be good, but very expensive.

I appreciate your thoughts. I see that you have a sweet long hood and you are also local. Very nice! Hopefully I can get mine into a quality shop soon!! I will reach out to Mike at RD. Thanks

Legendary, RM, The Guild are the only shops that come to mind for a proper metal restoration

Thank you guys. I would ideally like to stay closer to home if at all possible...but will consider all options as I would like quality work.
Was Stan happy with his work from RD? Any idea on rates at some of these shops?
Cheers

Hi Shindo,
RD did some outstanding metal work on my 912, but it was not cheap by any standard. I was charged $65/hr and the hours added up pretty fast. Problem is they will not do a complete restoration job on your car. They will cut out rusted parts and will weld in new sheet metal, but after that you will have to move it to a body shop. It does not have to be a Porsche specialty shop if the rust has been dealt with already.
If you go with a specialty restoration shop, they will do everything from start to finish and it might cost you less. In my case, I wanted RD to do the cutting and welding as they know these cars very very well. And indeed, when I brought the car over to my body shop, everyone was amazed at the craftsmanship that RD puts out.
PM me for more info if you like.

Far away, but Chrome Auto-Body in Newtonville specializes in European cars. Doing a 68 Join Resto with them (us being Response Engineering) and they do amazing work...
Another option but likely too far for you, but thought I would share.
