I can agree with that to some extent...

However, I do feel this Jaguar with its sound and beauty alone might sway a few 911 owners over.

I see. Some models certainly do that's for sure.

Of course the thing about the 911 is that it's not one car but like 13 or 14 (C2, C2S, C4, C4S, Targa, TargaS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3RS, GT2, etc...etc...)...

A TurboS challenges pretty much all comers regardless of price (performance wise if not styling and brand cache) but a C2 will get it's *** handed to it by a Camaro Z28 on a track...

It's amazing that all these other car companies are really stepping up their game quickly while Porsche seems to be just re-branding VW and Audi's and concentrating on marking tactics with a new special 911 model every month. I think the base 991 should be the S and a S should have the power package with some extra options.

I saw the new Z28 at GM headquarters in Detroit a few weeks ago. MSRP was something like $75K. It looked pretty damn impressive as a track car. And the fact that Chris Harris decided to put it head-to-head against a GT3 gives it some real cred.
Obviously I'd still take the GT3, but Porsche has some serious competition at their heels.

They sure sound good. I heard one getting on the loud pedal on a ramp on to the QEW, and I was startled that it was a Jag making that growl!

As for other makes "nipping" at the heels of Porsche, if Porsche wants to set a standard, they better be prepared to put a target on their back. We all win....that is if you like cars, and I like cars!

If this came with a manual gear box I'd definitely take it over a 991 and pretty much anything else in this price range.

I keep hearing the next RS will be just mental. I think Porsche knows they have something to prove. Maybe.....

I'm a bit biased in that I am a 928 fan. Don't get me wrong I'd LOVE a 911 turbo, but anything lesser is, well, lesser. I have driven quite a few 911's in my time and they are underwhelming for the most point. The turbo is the exception. Even in looks the Turbo always was so much more aggressive and curvy and sexy. With the game to back it up.

This Jag sure has caught my attention... Should awaken Porsche too. They have the skill, money, power-train to make a 928 replacement. Problem is out of the box it will crush a 911. That will get purists panties in a knot. Does VW management have the ***** to take Porsche where it needs to go?

Rumour has it that the 2015 F-Type will have an AWD option as well as a manual transmission. It seems like you might get your wish.
