Clive - if it needs a clutch and otherwise it's less than perfect then I would go 3K tops. Mine has finally thawed out of its snowbank if you want to look and I'm willing to consider offers.

Rob, do you mean a 944 S ring and pinion, or one from a 951 Turbo S?

To the OP, the Rogue A-Tune is a great system, and really improves the turbo cars. Oh, and Nick's (StyleLab) red 951 is a work of art. It's definitely one to see if you want a best-of-breed car!

Thanks Charlie, the red turbo is awesome ...unfortunately my wife and I are at the "OE and understated" sort of stage in our lives where a fairly nice original 944 would fit like a glove with our plans to cruise to the cottage etc. this summer. Lol, we were hoping for maybe Konis with turbo twist wheels. Yes, we're in our 50's.

Thinking about selling mine this year. '86 951: all stock except LR boost enhancer and Stebro stainless cat back exhaust. Will sell with Veloce 18" rims for $9,500 or $8,500 with phonies.

Thanks Steve, I will certainly post to those areas. I have had an ad running on Kijiji Toronto/GTA for a couple of days. Received a few replies from Guards Red 944 owners but nothing on silver or black cars yet. It will probably take a while because I'm actually choosing a colour this time ...the past cars were chosen for their condition ...so I guess I'll have to sit back and wait.

I agree with Charlie. Nick`s sets the standard. Very nice car.
Mike`s ( Ontario Turbo ) is a nice car as well.
On another note. Has anyone noticed that some drive clean shops are no longer doing OBD 1 ?

Yes, there are a few 944s that I'd like to make offers on, but we are either too far away on the price or just too far away.

Thanks for the post Jerome, I really appreciate it. Thanks to all who have posted 944s in an effort to help a fellow Rennlister. My wife and I have decided to wait for a silver or black '87 or later version. Funny enough I've never really had a problem finding a $6-$8,000 944 that was in great shape but this spring doesn't seem to have the selection that I've had to choose from in the past. There are a few out there that are between $11,500 and $19,000 but I will never pay that kind of money for a 944 again. I learned my lesson paying $10,000 a couple of years ago for a pristine (if not showroom) S2 Eurospec with 80,000 klms that ended up taking months to sell last summer ...dealing with a plethora of test pilots and Porsche experts before finally finding someone willing to pay just $8,000 for it. From what I've seen currently in the classifieds and considering my $8,000 budget, maybe it's time for me to try on a Mercedes 500SL or BMW 330CI.

I can attest to the 330ci. Mine is fantastic to drive. It is my first BMW so I have no others to compare it to, but I see where they get the "ultimate driving machine" catch phrase from. As for a black 944, mine will be available soon. Lipstick Red interior. Lightly modded and no where near $8k.
