I have yet to jump into the wonderful world of Porsche and I was looking at the car below. I have spend a LONG time lurking and I think I/we are finally ready to make the jump.
I took a look at the car on the weekend and it is in great shape. It has a clean carfax but it looks like it may have been painted. They are looking into it today with a paint tester. The other thing I asked about was over-rev's and apparently with the 996's there is only range 1 and range 2. The car has had both, recently( @950 for range 2 and 963 for range 1. Total hours on the engine are 973. Are there any other things I should look for?
I also don't know if it's worth waiting for a Turbo S or X50. They seem to be very few and far between.
Only the 30 day that Pfaff offers. The price seems high but when you look at the used pre-owned cars on Porsche.com it's competitively priced, considering the price of the dollar. And this is the only one I can find that isn't at some shady used car dealer.
I'd stay away from m96/m97 cars. Stick with the 996 TT. If your stuck on cab then it does look like about the only local option. There is a 996 Turbo S cabriolet located in New Brunswick for the same price. Might be able to use that knowledge to drop down their price a bit. Don't like the non warranty and you need to find out what the over-rev really mean.
Type 1 just means it hit the rev limiter, type 2 are ones that go past the redline. What the number of ignitions on the range 2. After some research I found that if the car is tuned it could raise the rev limiter by a small bit which could then trigger the type 2, depends on the tune or it could be a mis-shift. The number of ignitions will tell you more info about how bad it was.
Thanks for the link!...110k is an awful lot for a car that is priced the same as the one at Pfaff. I will ask about the number of ignitions at range 2. That link was very helpful. The Car does have an Evoms intake, I will ask if it has a tune as well.

Thanks for all the help.

110k is not bad, 10-12k a year. Porsches need to be driven.
I've seen this car in person and it's in really good shape.
Take it for a drive and you will be sold.
Never pay full asking price, negotiate.
If the dealer won't budge in price then negotiate a full major service, etc or extended warranty. Good luck.
