You really need to speak to pros in the business. My company does flat glass stuff but I learned a bit about automotive. Films are dyed or sputtered. Dyes are cheapest but also have that look. Sputtered can be metallic or ceramic. The former will interfere with radio signals and the latter is immune to that. My preference is to reflectivity, those are slightly greyish but block 99%UV and 50% of IR (infrared). Llumar (Eastman) are the choice given my druthers.
Audio Heaven at Leslie and hwy 7 did my car. Pretty neat job. No affiliation with them. Couldn't even tell you the guys name, but they sponsor a few forums and get good reviews.
ugh which car (pls dont say 911) and when did it happen? i used them in 2005.
Yup, 911. He did refund me $200 of the cost. It's not horrible, but there are a couple of imperfections. Had it done in 2012. They previously did a very good job on my BMW
Not in your area, but Superior in Oakville did my 85 a while back and did a great job. The quarter windows on a 928 are a bitch to tint.
I will be taking the 87 there as soon as I get her running.
Yep, Gino there is very good, he did both of my cars.
The rear window of the hardtop for my car is tricky to do, he was not happy with the first pass, so pulled it off immediately and called me to apologize it's going to take longer as he had to order more of the Pinnacle Formula One ceramic film, it was perfect second time around.
Not the cheapest place, then again we all know the difference between "cheap" and "value", else we wouldn't be driving P cars!
Thornhill Tints. They primarily do tints for Audi/Bimmer dealers. Know their stuff - very reasonable. Only complaint is scheduling can be a bit of a sh*%show. Had 3 cars tinted and one 3M'd on the hood and bumper, and always very happy.
