As a small business owner that believes that customer service trumps all, it really pisses me off that he can even stay in business.
I dealt with him once and I found I was insulted by him on many levels.
Sorry, a little rant .....

Dude at Nineapart sounds bat **** crazy to me. Will avoid. Despite being in the neighbourhood I haven't bought anything from Whaletail yet, but I have got pricing from Randy a couple of times. Seems like a good guy.

This thread is very valuable. In my search for a replacement engine for my 996, I came across both vendors. Randy, was highly recommended by a reputable shop, as a source for rebuilt 996 engines. I called him and he was happy to chat for awhile. Frank has used engines for cheaper, but with limited or no warranty. He was pleasant enough when I called him, but seemed like he just wanted to get off the phone quickly when I started asking more in-depth questions, like I was wasting his time. Seeing all the positive feedback for Whaletail, definitely makes me want to swing my business his way, if I decide to go with a stock rebuilt.

Kind of makes you wonder how he stays in business but, this being his THIRD move in the last 5-6 years kind of makes everything fall into place.

^^ I see it everyday in the business I run. "but they are cheaper" well enjoy being treated with little respect, poor service and little regard for your overall satisfaction. Very few people especially in the B2B world see value in customer service anymore, its all simply about the price!

Beg to differ. I rarely sell price. My customers buy based on value and price is part of that but overall they buy a solution and I found that to be the best approach.

I actually sell service and quality and my prices are not the lowest by a long shot. When my target clients want work done they get huge value for the price they pay in quality and service. It just means that I am more expensive than the cheapest alternative, but my target market typically understands that with quality and service comes price.

A Mercedes gets from Point A to B, but so does a Kia. Why do people pay multiple times more for the Mercedes than the Kia?

With service comes repeat business and lower costs in advertising, sales staff, etc. Some people just don't get it.

It's clear that Nine & Whale feel that they have a bit of parts monopoly in the limited Ontario market and therefore can be a-holes about things and will still sell enough to stay afloat. Sucks though because they could be huge only if they gave a poop about their customers. I was so excited to find out about them but now, after reading all the posts, am so disappointed

With the loony on a slide and down to 90 cents, guess getting parts from the US is only gonna get more expensive.

And just to be clear, the engine was cheaper at NineApart, but it was used with DOA warranty, not a rebuilt with one year warranty. The better deal was the rebuilt from Randy, for a bit more money.
