DHL just charged me a "Processing" fee of $10 plus a collect on delivery (for the GST) a $4 fee. When I tried to contact them I wound up with 9 telephone numbers in Canada and the US and none of them allowed me to speak with a real live person. I'll never use them again or allow them to be used to send me a parcel.
This is how insane UPS charges are.
I ordered in the spring about $140 worth of goods from ECS Tuning (fantastic site with good pricing) paid another $20 to ship (no big deal, decent pricing). Little did I know that UPS was the method of shipping (wasn't paying attention).
The goods were left at my door and an invoice from UPS in the amount of $72.20 was left on my window door to pay. $140 worth of goods, $20 extra to ship the goods and I'm being charged another $72.20!! from UPS...you ask for what, here is the breakdown.
Duty Amount - $8.45
CA Customs HST - $19.40
Brokerage GST/HST - $4.55
COD GST/HST - $0.55
Total Government Charges = $32.92
Entry Prep Fee - $29.00
Bond Fee - $6.00
COD/Online Fee - $4.25
Total Brokerage Charges - $39.25
My wife called UPS and put up a stink and they took off $30.00 so ended up paying $42.20.
Bought a set of Llyods Mats which was about the same amount - $140 I think at Pelican Parts and used USPS and I paid about $25.00 for the taxes when they arrived at the door. Big difference for the same service. USPS may take a little longer but I'm in no hurry to get my products that quickly.
Never again UPS....rip off artists......
That's my raint, I feel better now.

Just to add a note on ECS Tuning in case anyone uses this thread as a reference.
I ordered an interior part from ECS last year and asked them via email to ship with USPS since their web site only showed options for UPS. They agreed over email but still shipped the part with UPS which resulted in an extra brokerage fee of ~$40 and a $40 part. I complained to ECS since I wasn't happy but they didn't respond.
However it looks like ECS has now changed their web site to allow USPS shipping to Canada. Which is a good thing since they have an awesome price on a set ignition coils and plugs. Still $60 to ship though.
