Gundo hack GTA ?

Dinicod, you don't need to do both, either one should be fine by itself, unless you just want to spend more money for little additional return. The Gundo hack is to imitate the factory PSE but fully open at all times, Fister will give you similar sound without touching the cans, it's a little lighter because less tubing is required as compared to the Gundo hack, but it takes more skill to do it just right with the tight space to work with.

After a bunch of research my conclusions were:
- the Gundo hack is essentially the same as the factory PSE but without the solenoid to control it
- for the 3.4L muffler the Gundo hack isn't very effective
- for the 3.6L muffler the Gundo hack has a ~medium increase in volume
- for either the 3.4L or 3.6L the Fister hack has a medium increase in volume depending on the size of the bypass pipe (ie 1.5", 1.75", or 2" pipe)
- Some people have combined both and the conclusion seemed to be that it was slightly louder than either hack individually and still tolerable.
Please correct me if my conclusions were wrong.
In my case I had already replaced my original cats with a 200 cell X-pipe from Maxspeed Motorsports which already had increased the volume and improved the sound a little. I didn't want to go overboard so I stuck with the Gundo hack.

.
Finally got around to pulling the mufflers so I can install new plugs.
So off I went mufflers in hand to have the 2nd hack added, turns out because of the way Pfaff modified the mufflers originally nothing more can be done with them. As happy as I am with them, I would really like a little more, however I need to start with an un-modded muffler,
So....... if anyone is looking for a set of Pfaff tuning mufflers I willing to trade even.

I can vouch for the sound of the Pfaff mufflers. Its a great sound. I've got 997 headers as well so I'm not sure how much different mine would sound than yours.
I've never really closely looked at how they modified them but what have they done so that you cannot modify anymore?

Revn, whats your thoughts on the 997 headers?
pfaff uses a "J" bent pipe between inlet and outlet pipes not leaving room to add the PSE hack. Pipe diameter is also on the smaller side, but the way its rigged you can't just swap it for a larger one.
Car is sitting at our old house, I'll get a few pics next time I there.

Do you know anyone who has done both these mod's? I'd be interested to know what the sound is like. I've got to decide in the next few weeks which one I'm going to do or maybe both?
I don't, but I would not think anyone needs more than the Fister D mod, keep in mind my car is a Cab, so I can hear the exhaust more so than a Coupe, even with the top raised.
It is quite loud outside of the car already even for the 3.4L mufflers, IMHO adding the Gundo hack would not likely see the ROI in cost vs increased sound, plus you are now more likely to **** the one picky neighbor off for him/her to call the cops.

There is a 964 down the street from me that is way louder then these hacks plus all the Harley's - some with those fat bob pipes. I don't think combining both mod's would be close to those guys. Besides, I don't think mild acceleration would cause any miscarriages or Def Con 1 alerts.

Here's the one I'm talking about:

No, sorry man. Not much to see to be honest. Tech put a coat of flat black paint on the pipe/weld points for rust protection I guess. Welds look ok I guess, but again coat of paint on them. Happy with the result though.
