Default Help Looking at a 01' Turbo

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forum and looking at my first 911 turbo. I have found a 01' Turbo w/ 99,000km for sale here in the GTA. From what I have seen of the car (passed by at night) its has scratches here and there, so its not perfect. Interior looks very good though.

I haven't been able to find much in the way of pricing, but they are asking $36k. Does that sound reasonable for the mileage? I've seen many in the ~50k range with half the km.

Thanks for the help!

I have seen this car the other day and sat in it. Condition looks great and body too. Remember it's 12 years old. The shifter has been changed for the better, possibly a GT3 shifter. Apparently it was picked up at pfaff porsche by this dealer. I also own a 2001 996 turbo and the black one you looked at looks great. For that price I would jump on It. Do a major service on it after purchasing it have fun. The price is to good to give up. Any decent 996 turbos are going for low 40's and up. Black on black is nice combo too. Enjoy modding it as they are fun cars to add modifications too. The dealer is firm on there price.

Thanks for the inside scoop Rob....

I was intending to go back this weekend to check out the car. Yes, i expect certain defects being 12 years but obviously I don't want any serious $$ mechanical issues.

I'll keep everyone posted

36k for a turbo in Canada. What's wrong with it? I'd be very leery.

probably has something on carfax....maybe been involved in major accident. I would have a ppi at a mechanic and have them check for over-revs and take it to a body shop to check for damage. post up a link if you want more comments. what is the mileage I assume 65 spd based on changed shifter.
great cars good luck!

It's the only 996 Turbo for $37K in Canada....not hard to find on Autotrader.

Seems like it's priced WAY too low.

It looks to be a Canadian car and the ad says it has a clean car fax. There are two other US cars with higher mileage and mods at the same asking price, one with a terrible interior. I'd say to low unless there are hidden mechanical problems.

Hence why I went to take a look at it after work when I saw the ad in autotrader as I don't work far from that dealership.
It looked nice, Michelin tires all around looked decent - rims sratched/scraped.
Dealer said to me he received 10+ emails for this car and I said the price is very good if no hidden agendas (that's when he said the price is firm and priced to sell fast).

Take it out for a thorough drive and a PPI. I have a good place in Markham for a PPI if you are interested.....
Act fast if your interested and pay the couple of hundred dollars for the PPI and if the car passes than jump on it.

Also the salesman said they don't have any of the service history but said I (meaning me) could call PFAFF Porsche and they would provide it to me (which is true but if little to no work was completed at Pfaff then you won't get much)...
Good Luck and great cars!

Of course we all know that buying a Porsche is just the admission ticket....everything else is extra (Porsche Tax!)

I have looked around and prices are actually pretty stable. Any 996 turbo that I would be interested in is at least mid 40's. Remember to add to what you pay the deferred maint. which can quickly top $5k. Mint low mile cars are high 40-low 50s and I think will stay that way or close to it. Performance for the $$ is incredible.

With the 996's you need to focus on these aspects and make sure they are either addressed or expect to have them done in the near future.
-coolant expansion tank
-clutch accumulator and possibly slave
-2nd gear pop out
-hydraulics for wing
These are the major issues to look at.

Like everyone else have mentioned, get a PPI (mantis/hunter do them)
Hope this helps.
