Help Looking at a 01' Turbo
#16
Looks like we have a number of 911 folks in the east end of town....we should all hook up sometime early October in the Markham/Richmond Hill area if possible before storage season....of course all Porsches are obviously welcome!
I have asked Saturn if he is putting another cruise in before the end of October in York Region ie Depart from Markham and go up north to Musselmans lake, etc. and he said yes and will keep up posted.
Hyper911 - Love the color! I have a Gaurds Red as well (us red cars need to stick together as there are not many of us).....

With the 996's you need to focus on these aspects and make sure they are either addressed or expect to have them done in the near future.
-coolant expansion tank
-clutch accumulator and possibly slave
-2nd gear pop out
-hydraulics for wing
These are the major issues to look at.
Like everyone else have mentioned, get a PPI (mantis/hunter do them)
Hope this helps.

Not saying that there are not good deals out there, but when I was looking I gave up on all the low 40s and especially the high 30s turbos. They ALL had problems and were a waste of time and money considering.
My friend bought an 01 in the spring. He got one with low mileage but ended up with a nice one for $51k in the US.

Price is low. Many of these cars have been abused. Check for non factory upgrades as many of the cars have been modded to death. Be absolutely sure you have the computer checked for type 2 overrevs. Personally, I wouldn't touch a Porsche, especially a turbo without extensive service records.
Good luck

So the car should be heading to Porsche today for a PPI..... I will be definitely asking them to scan the computer.
Records will be provided to prove a new clutch, and a partial service history for the vehicle from Porsche.
We shall see!

Sorry for the delayed response, but yes I did buy it! I've been a bit busy driving it, and staring at it! lol.... I will post pictures soon, but it seems most have already seen the car personally!
So far, I am extremely happy with the purchase.
