Gauging Interest: Porsche Nuremberg Ring Experience.... in Canada

Drive the Nuremburg ring without ever leaving Ontario!!

Organized this a few years ago for the Subaru crowd

Hired a federally licensed ice road builder to build the nurenburg ring

Everything is 20/20 before we venture on the ice - that's ice 20" thick, and temperature 20 deg below zero .....

Located near Ottawa - probably early February

*** Sept 11 Update ***

best tires are studded that's for sure
but most people will not go that route

first time we plowed to the ice - definitely needed studs or tractionized tires or just super low tire pressures

next time we left about 4" of snow and then drove first couple of laps to compress the snow
this seemed to be the best middle of the road solution

In!

Christien, I'm assuming we're not ice racing so there shouldn't be any car to car contact as long as everyone spaces out appropriately.

Depending on the format, I wouldn't mind bringing the 996 and sliding her around.

rallyguy, how do you run the day, Split in to two run groups: rubber-to-ice and studs-to-ice?

Can you drive regular winter tires (Michelin Alpine) or will they be useless in those conditions?
