Default What does this button do?

So my "friend" was really my father in law and he just bought a 2002 C2 Cab. We found this button but not sure what it says..

Looking at it closely, I think it says "SPRINT" booster (or something) power equipment. When you press it, it turns "green". Press it again it turns "Red" and once more, the light is completely off.

Suppose to reduce the throttle response delay.

What jumper said.
Ive had one for years and leave it green, iirc red can be to sensitive for city/stop and go driving.
Try a bit of start and stop at each setting, you'll quickly get a feel for it.

+1. I have it on my C4S. Red is too sensitive for pretty much all situations. Green is great most of the time, but in stop and go traffic, I turn it off. I have it stuck out of sight under the dash; it looks like an eyesore where it is in your pic.

I had one in the mini. Throttle response was unbearable without it - the weakest point of that car. I didn't realize the 996 was an electronic throttle.

I was looking at the wire and hoping it was an F1 Drag Reduction System switch

Thanks guys.. the word was so damn small, it was hard to read.. thx.. i took his car out for a spin this past weekend. The cab seems a bit wobbly although driving with the roof down does feel good. oh one more thing, one of the key opens the doors and can turn on the radio, etc.. but no engine start? I hear a buzzing noise when trying to start the car w/ that key?

Sprint booster sounds interesting..... Hmm.... They make one for the Boxster. Price seems a tad high at $300. A softronics tune is $900. I must take care of the IMS 1st.

The sprint booster gets wired inline with the throttle cable from the foot pedal - you unplug the pedal module, plug it into the sprint booster, then plug the sprint booster into where you pulled the pedal cable out. It's not really a modification. It just remaps engine response to throttle position - basically tells the engine the throttle is further depressed than it actually is.

Not all 996s were "E gas". The early ones like mine still had a throttle cable.

An electronic version of the throttle cam on a 944.. Interesting.. after 25 years, people are still asking for improved throttle response!
