Default Ontario Cross border shoppers - CBI question

Do I really need a PMB#, I registered last year, and didn't need one then. I want to order some parts from autohaus az again, and use them.

I want to order ASAP, as I want them to arrive free by next Thurs.

Thanks,
Peter

(sending free UPS ground hopefully)

What's a PMB#? Postal Mail Box #? If so, why are you asking?

CBI has a real street address and not a mail box number, just register CBI address with your credit card as one of the ship-to address, then ask Autohaus to put your name and CBI address in the shipping box, done like dinner.

And yes CBI can accept delivery from UPS and any other courier.

Package arrived at cbi this morning. Went there this afternoon around 4pm. Spent 45+ minutes in line, and another 10 minutes waiting for them to find my package. Not a pleasant experience. They need to speed things up.

I think the line up is amazing. Tells you something about demand for a service.

Unhappy

I recently saw theiceman's posting about addition charges by USPS and I just received this email from CBI along with two forms in pdf format, a CBI Terms and Conditions.pdf and Form1583-123456.pdf.

It looks like the shipping games a changing, alot of places won't ship to personal mailboxes we may have to look for alternatives.

Anyone shipped to CBI from Pelican, Autohaus AZ, or any of other parts houses using CBI new address format contained in the attached letter?

This is at the bottom of the USPS Form 1583:

Privacy Act Statement: Your information will be used to authorize the delivery of your mail to the designated addressee as your agent. Collection is authorized by 39 USC 401, 403, and 404. Providing the information is voluntary, but if not provided, we cannot provide this service to you. We do not disclose your information without your consent to third parties, except for the following limited circumstances: to a congressional office on your behalf; to financial entities regarding financial transaction issues; to a USPS® auditor; to entities, including law enforcement, as required by law or in legal proceedings; to contractors and other entities aiding us to fulfill the service; and for the purpose of identifying an address as an address of an agent who receives mail on behalf of other persons. Information concerning an individual who has filed an appropriate protective court order with the postmaster will not be disclosed except pursuant to court order. For more information on our privacy policies, see our privacy link on usps.com®.
So basically the Big Brother is watching/monitoring, while this is not a new form and was dated Dec 2004, somebody in the government is now forcing a postal service regulation onto an agent receiving non postal service delivery such as from couriers like UPS Fed Ex etc.?!?! Too bad CBI can't or chose not to fight this.

I like the way the disclaimer says they won't share the information with anybody except everybody else.

These are in the FAQ page on CBI's website http://cbiusa.com/faq.php:

•Q: Do I need to register before having packages shipped to CBI?

A: Yes, due to USPS compliance, all customers are required to register, include a PMB # on shipping address, & fill-out/sign/submit a USPS 1583 form
•Q: Is CBI's US Shipping Address considered a PO box? The seller will not ship to PO boxes.

A: No, CBI’s US Shipping Address is a physical address, NOT a PO box. CBI receives items from private carriers every day (except Sundays), including UPS & FedEx, who will not deliver to PO boxes. CBI assigns you a Private Mailbox (PMB) number, not a Post Office (PO) box number, resulting in your own legitimate US Shipping & Mailing Address.
So at least Mark's question is answered, that this PMB is still OK as part of ship-to address, although all bets are off if a company has its own policy of not shipping to a PMB.
