Cool thread.

The first brand new motor vehicle I ever bought with my own money, was a motorcycle. I bought it in 1977...a Kawasaki KZ-1000. At the time it was the King (fastest production motorcycle). I had the rotors drilled and installed Lester mags and a Denco 4-into-1 exhaust.

The first car I ever bought, with my own money, I got in 1978. There were 2 others before it ('69 VW bug I got from my Dad; and a '77 Saab 99 EMS that me and 2 buddies bought for rallying and ice racing). This car was all mine (well...mine and the Credit Union's). A 1977 Chevrolet Corvette.

Loved 'em both, but I miss that bike more.

If only I had the gold chains...I coulda been cool.

10 reasons why this can't be me...

#10 - I don't back my car into the driveway
#9 - After spending the first 6 grade school years wearing Lederhosen, I vowed never again to wear short dorky looking pants
#8 - My tires are shinier than that
#7 - Although I did live in California for a while I wasn't old enough to even ride a 2 wheeled bicycle
#6 - German sandals yes, German sandals with socks - definitely not
#5 - Racing stripes to hide paint/body imperfections is not likely (unless it's a winter beater)
#4 - The tie has to each the belt buckle, otherwise I won't step out of the house
#3 - I have never, since allowed to comb my own hair, ever combed it to the side
#2 - I don't think I was even that thin at birth
And the number one reason this can't be me.....
#1 - I couldn't (even today) grow a moustache that full

I have been going through the archives at home, and will post pics shortly to prove the above

I'd add to that list:
11. If the pants warrant a party, so that the ankles may be introduced to the cuffs, then I won't step out of the house.

Me circa 1988/89 with my new to me 1978 Datsun 280z. I had that car for 24 years. I was really cool with the Sunny Crocket shades eh?

Thought I'd also add one of my earliest pictures of me on the track at Mosport circa very early 90's.

That's a collectible now. Do you still have it or know where it went?

This is what it looks like after 20yrs of me playing with it. I sold the car recently to a fellow club member...I miss it somtimes, but not in August...
It looks cool, but is like an oven with poor air hvac and no a/c.

Nope, my friend who took the pic stole it from his parents, and yes, they called the police. I paid for my first car 36 years ago and as you know, still have it.....
