Insuring a Rebuilt Vehicle
Has anyone on here insured a rebuilt/salvaged car in Ontario recently? My '84 944 was vandalized with a hammer about 8 years ago and written off. I bought the car after it had been inspected, repaired and branded as Rebuilt - Fit.
I had the car insured about three years ago but it went into storage. Now that I'm trying to get the car insured again, no insurance companies will touch it. I even asked my broker if it would make a difference having a rebuilt title, and she said no. She then called me the next day saying that all of a sudden, companies won't take the car.
So do any of you guys have experience insuring rebuilt cars?

A lot of companies won't touch rebuilt.
Those that do often put them in the risk sharing pool ( this is a high risk insurance pool shared by all insurance companies where they place risky cars, drivers that have past impaired charges, etc). Has high premiums as a result.
Shop around or look for a company that doesn't check registrations. If you have all your insurance ( home, auto, life ) with one company they will probably get it into the risk pool.
Good luck.
