Default paint protector film install in montreal

My new GT3 is without film paint protector and needs some -

Porsche charge 2395 $ to cover the entire hood/fenders/lights/mirrors/font bumper.

My local shop is charging 1100$ for the "same job in surface sq/m ".

they both have a lifetime warranty ( i do not know what that means ) .

both are claimed "self healing " and have a special film for white cars.

the dealers product is called : Ultra
and the local shop uses pro-shield and they have done some high end cars.

Suggestions or comments related to pro-shield ?

I said no to the porsche dealer based on 2x the price.

thanks for your feedback.

Get the dealer to throw it in as a courtesy. You are buying a $100k+ car.

Thanks for the suggestion but :
In a nutshell this dealer does not negotiate much ..
They move allot of Pcars ( first or second in Canada ) and lets just leave it at that . When demand and supply are at par the buyer is not at an advantage.

either that or i am a terrible negotiator ..

I had the 4.0 done with Protex at Prestige but I was able to negotiate that at the time of purchase, so it was more reasonable.

On my previous 11'RS I had it done by Lebeau in Ste Agathe, ask for Remi, he should set you up with a competitive price.
good luck

Andrew,

Go away from the dealer for this as the dealer typically makes a large cut just for arranging it (they normally get someone in to do it) - as you can see by the range difference in price.

Call me for some extra tips regarding picking a vender and how the install "Should" be done on your GT3.

Cheers!

I think it was around $200 between Xpel and 3M.

Thanks ! Will do Doug you are correct, the dealer calls in a crew to do it.

They did my turbo but the job is not a 10 ( edges etc ) but close 8-9/10.

I had a pro-shield on my FJ Cruiser roof liner above the windshield and its a little shiny...( lazer auto ).

Thanks Dwane and DRPM for the protex contact/i forgot that name. The ULTRA product at the dealer is from PROTEX.

Ian from Trimline used to do all my car ( he is an artist with a knife and 3m film ) .. he does not do cars anymore and 3m seems a little passee date.

The factory film for the back wheels has been replaced by the dealer and seems to yellow after 2 years ( was replaced on all 3 GT3's i looked at ).

Thanks again.

"Ultira" is likely the Venture Shiled Ultra, not familiar with the "Pro Shield" brand, never heard of it.

Xpel Ultimate is about the best film out there today, it has the best shine in my opinion, and is easier to work with as compared to 3M Scotch brand the Venture Shield.

FWIW 3M bought out Venture Shield a few years ago, then promply removed the lifetime warranty Venture Shield used to offer, it's now only 5 years, just like its own Scoth brand, my guess is 3M can't beat Venture Shield so they bought them, then reduce the warranty so it does not compete with 3M's own Scotch brand.

I decide to go for it and got my 997 done at Protex in Laval. I got the Xpel Ultimate installed earlier this week and they did a great job (got the full front job). Great installation, great service, and really happy with the result.

Highly recommend it.

Venture Shield (thin) is the most invisible I've seen so I got it 4 years ago on a black car and it's still perfect. Under $1K at autobahn autospa. Frank Duart is the guy to talk to and based on the prices you're being quoted may be worth the drive.........
