Default Cheap battery.

My 12yr old porsche has a dead battery. I've been neglecting it in the garage this winter, and had the tender on other 12v batteries. I went to charge it last night, and it's dead as a doorknob.

I'm tempted to try a cheapie from Walmart or Costco as a replacement, provided I can find one that fits.

I been using a Canadian tire battery for 7 years. In fact my Cayenne battery just died and I just put one in it as well. 3 year warranty for $129. Much better then the $400 battery the Porsche quoted me.

My original '05 Battery passed away too this summer.
Did the CTC Eliminator.
4 year warranty which includes 4 years roadside boost for a buck & a half!

Nothing wrong with specialty batteries but they come with a specialty price and if you need warranty,
specialty stores have specialty hours.

Oh and an oem Audi battery is the same as the Porsche except the Audi name and cheaper.

Wal-mart batteries are made by Johnson Controls, one of only 3 batteries makers in north america. I have one in my 911 and Jeep and they work fine. CTC batteries are made by Exide and are good as well.

The Walmart battery was a perfect fit for my 996TT.

After searching for a while, I moved to this battery for my Boxster as it was one of the best batteries out there. Search on the 996 & 986/7 forums. Since I switched as the old one was poor ... it's like getting a new car! This and the Costco brand are always rated on top.

The cost for my 94R was about $135 CDN last summer. http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/everstar...x-94r/10061196

Interstate makes one. Between $150 to $180 depending on your shop.

MT95 ?? Double check the model number.

Boxster is 94R, especially Tip ... Read the story here ---> http://986forum.com/forums/performan...ery-group.html

If the list says optional battery, that is the one you should pick. It's usually a stronger battery ...

I forget off hand if there's a drainage hole near battery, if not just shower the area in baking soda to neutralize soon as you can, if theres a drainage hole wash the excess down with water then neutralize with baking soda

Don't be shy with the soda. You want to neutralize the acid in no uncertain terms...ASAP.
Once you've done that. Then sort out what happened.

A lot more information would help. Has it been sitting for a while? On a tender? Allowed to freeze? Overcharged? Symtoms prior? etc...etc...etc...
