Agreed.

I liked the two 991s I drove (S PDK and base manual) but I didn't come away desperately wanting one. It's simply a very very nice car but bereft of the connected mechanical nature that set Porsches apart IMHO.

I thought the comments about the GT-R were spot on. It's a wild ride and the R8 is simply sublime over the road if not on track.

All that said, I'm sure Porsche's plan is clear to many in that the GT cars will be hard core and the other 991s are now luxury two doors that also happen to go rather fast.

Possible, but I hope they do not go the way BMW did with the M cars.....

I think there's a strong case to support the new Cayman taking over the Carrera's position as the "sports car".

The good news is that there are a lot of 997 and 997 GT3 and RS cars out there to choose from!

Not sure about that. The new Cayman is woefully underpowered.

and look how big the rear end is getting. I think Porsche actually thinks the Panameria is a hit and trying to make all the other models have similar looks to it. Bad idea.

I think the new Cayman has a nicer rear end vs the original one, gone are those awkward lines/angles.

Base Cayman still has less HP than my 13 year old C2, but that shape, especially side profile, is more 911, albeit a smaller version. I think it looks much better than the previous models, and at a base price of only 60K !

I wouldn't define a sports car by the amount of power it has.
