My HRE took exactly the same route when they came, although they went to Windsor to Concord, and then back to Ohio. Sharker is correct, it's just UPS preparing the brokerage paper work so they can screw you on fees.

Ahh ok. USPS was $50 more than UPS. I know very well of UPS's fees but taking a gamble that it won't be more than $50.

UPS fees are higher by quite a bit than Fed-Ex. I've used both and been charged $50 by UPS and $15 by Fed-Ex for similar sized/value packages. I refuse to use UPS except where I can get it shipped to a location I use in Washington State.

I agree, I do not use UPS from the US as their fees are way out of line compared to both USPS and FEDEX. I ship frequently from the US and have always found UPS clearing costs high.

10 years ago got dinged for 130 when the supercharger kit was delivered by them. If the shipping charges weren't so far apart, I would have stuck with USPS with this shipment too.
$hitty part is, I forgot to order the valve guide seals so last night I put another order in with Pelican but with USPS this time.

There was a thread or posts somewhere on Rennlist in how to direct UPS such that you do the import clearance rather than UPS agent, however it does mean you will have to do the legwork, so it may not be worth it for everyone especially those who live and die by the cliche of "time is money".

Firsg delivery attemp was made today at 2:30, next one is for tomorrow.....probably around the same time. It's been over a decade since I used UPS or Fed/Ex.....do they let you pick it up, at the depot, after the second attempt?

You should be able to pick it up at the depot after the 1st attempt. Is there no number to call for the nearest depot? They usually give you that number too.

On the back of the card they leave on the your door there is a 1-800 # you can call to make arrangements. I believe the nearest pick up location is in kitchener. I called them today and asked them to leave a package in my mail box. When I got home.........voila.
