Default Dumba$$ in the summer but

My son just bought a 09 Benz S300.
Anyone got any advise on winter rubber or a lead for steelies ?
It is a 4Matic and we don`t get much snow in K-Town.
Thanks,
Steve.

Even the cheapest winters are better than the best all seasons. So any winter tire will be better than an alll season one. Good Year Nordics, made for Canadian Tire, are a very good value. They usually come on sale around the fall.

Steve, I have a nice set of 15" steels with Nokian Hakkepelitas on them, but they're VW bolt pattern (and probably too small for the MB!)

Why ruin a reasoably good looking car with ugly steelies?

Get a combo rim and tire package from tirerack.com. They can come already mounted and balanced.

Much cheaper then here.

I went with tire rack.com earlier but found a local shop can match their prices. However in ktown tr might be the way to go.

Normally I would recommend against alloy wheels for the winter, too many times I've seen small paint chips on the rim allowing corrosion from salt against aluminum alloy to form, and cause the clear coat to bubble, then it goes downhill from there.

The steelies are beginning to become available in silver color, this would be a good option if you can find a silver color set.

Toyo G02+. Very very good snow tire and a heck of a lot better than Pirellis.

Or get a set of hubcaps.
