Default Where in Onatrio are you buying oil?

Presently using Mobil 1 0w-40 engine oil, as per my dealer.
However, don't want to use a "0" winter oil in summer (even in Barrie, ON, it never hits -20) so I want to use a Porsche Approved (still have a couple of years warranty left) 5w-40, like: Motul 8100, Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic European Formula or Quaker State Q European Formula. Just doing a quick web-search and cannot find any dealers carrying these.

I am using Amsoil 5W-40. Great oil, been using it for DE's for a while as is my buddy in his Carrere 4 lok up for your local distributor. Ships out of TO. My all up cost in mtl is 9.88 a litre. Great deal for great oil

do you feel it's necessary to go to 5w40 instead of 0w40 in the summer? i don't think the cold weight is really a big deal.

I get it from a local shop in Ottawa. Total Quartz 5W40 or Fuchs Titan 5W40.

I do, yes. The "0" is winter spec'd to about -21 degrees C, which will provide better protection, at that cold temperature, on a cold start. In Summer, I don't feel that's necessary. I'd rather have the protection at the higher end of the temperature scale.

Just wondering if anyone has found those 3 oils I mentioned, available locally?

WALMART!!! Mobil1 5W40, don't be freaked out about "Turbo Diesel Truck" on label. Just completed BLACKSTONE oil report to verify Zinc and Phosphorus levels, everything was perfect. I think Sports Car Boutique carries Motul 8100, might try out sometime and get stats.

Ok, thanks. Wanted to stay with a "Porsche Approved" engine oil for the next couple of years, until the warranty expires.

Thanks.
I'd heard that the Mobil 1 5w-40 "Truck" changed it's formulation and wasn't as good - your test checked out then? Will check with SCB for Motul, thanks.

But doesn't 0w40 and 5w40 provide the same protection at the high end...vs 5w50 which does give a different viscosity than Xw40.

Here's some goodies... you can compare viscosities and specifics.
