Default Max has arrived!!

And although it was supposed to be shipped 'door to door' according to Costco...the driver arrived in a 5 ton truck with no power tailgate, and consequently I had to get creative in a hurry!

Managed to get the 968lb unit off the truck and placed in the yard until I could find time to disassemble the packaging, and carry the individual pieces into the shop.

The hard part was the columns, they weigh a ton, or at least feel like it when there is only 2 of you to carry them, one at a time of course.

Got them in the bay where they will go and just seeing how they look...I'm thinking of setting them at the max width, 130", in case I ever want to lift a full size pickup, which will also give me the max room on the sides for my p-car. Just need to be sure the arms will reach the lifting points on the 993 with no problems.

Anyone have any experience/input on this?

The arrival and removal, hahaha...

Seeing how it 'looks'...

good job getting it off the truck...

I got my Max from Costco.ca last year, and they delivered it right into the garage.... I asked my parents to come over and receive the delivery for me....

The delivery time was set for 1pm, and the truck showed up at 12:45....

Thank goodness, they had a lift gate and I assume a skidmover....

Have fun with your max jax... Mine took 2+ months to install due to some thinner than expected concrete....

How on earth did you 'find' a backhoe?

It was 2400.00 taxes in and delivered to my door...OK, driveway...actually it was the promised 'free delivery' that motivated me to go ahead with the purchase. There was some kind of mixup with the truck company, it was SUPPOSED to come on a lift gate and get unloaded at my garage door, but well, you can see how well that worked out.

Lucky for me when I sold my backhoe last fall it was to my neighbour across the street. Part of the deal was I could still use it whenever I needed it, and it sure came in handy then!

Out here in the boonies, ( very rural ) it seems having a backhoe is as common as having second car, or pickup...never know when you might have to bury something, hahahaha.

Very nice! Did the box come all ripped up like that or did you end up doing that with the arm?

Jim
I've been hoping for a local PCA instructional event (intro to mechanics kind of idea - changing brakes, fluids, etc). I suggested this idea to ATR911 (at Canadian Tire - Ogilvie). He thought it was a good idea but hasn't gotten it going yet.

Don't suppose you'd want to start it?
