Actually GoPro2 was old out at Vistek! A bit hard to find downtown but we got a half dozen at Best Buy...

I've got a model very close to the one that Clive posted. The image quality is 'acceptable' - not fantastic but you get what you pay for. What is disappointing is the sound quality. If the sound isn't a reason for buying then you can't go wrong. I actually paid less then the one in the link. Remember you still need to buy an SD card so factor that into the pricing. I bought a 32G as it gives me 9 hours on HD setting which is fine as I plan to load the video onto my tablet and then upload to the net via WiFi from the hotel.

I find the suction cup mounts are great for the windshield but less so for your dash depending on the finish of dash and dash angle. It's not a great unit for mounting elsewhere in the car but I did experiment mounting it on the back window facing forward as well as rear facing and it works quite well that way.

The nighttime settings tend to show just the area in front of the headlights so it's pretty useless for that reason unless your cruising the strip in Vegas I guess. LOL

I've already had our friends from Peel Region point me over to the side of the road as he sat beside me at a light until I rolled the window down and shouted to him that it was a cam - NOT the radar unit he *thought* it was. I had the LED display flipped up so I flipped it down to show him and he gave me a thumbs up and drove off.

I bought it as a quick and dirty way to record my week on the Autobahn in Germany and Austria at the end of the month. We've got a 991 for 6 days.

I got the same one off ebay a couple of months ago. The only thing I don't like is that it screws into the base, so taking it off quickly when you exit the car is a hassle.

i agree with zook, a go pro is not right. i have a DSLR when i want to take "good" pics. this is more of an insurance against something stupid happening. i like that it continuously records and overwrites. it's handsfree (according to clive if we remove the batt), etc. i like it.

a go pro is good for other reasons - i may get one too

^ +1, I have the economic one, if I had to do it again, I would get the $89 one.
