Jonathon if it was that difficult to get your bushings out that you needed a press they were in pretty good shape. My pin fell out with a small tap of a hammer
keep up the good work. I hope your spray paint holds up under the extreme heat of these engines.
BTW dont forget to put a small amount of white paint on your crank pulley for checking ignition timing.

Bushing fitment to the pin was loose with noticeable play. The pin was press fit into the splined piece, as it has a larger diameter in the center than the outsides where the bushings mate with it. If yours was loose your pin may have been worn?
Spray paint should be good, its rated to 1200F. Good catch on the white paint for TDC. The mark is visible, but I suppose it will be difficult to see if it is all one colour?
If the paint doesn't hold up, I won't care that much... you can't see it when your going 100mph down the back straight at mosport anyway (figure of speech my dad and I had for anyone who cared too much about the physical appearance of their rides :P)...
Cheers

If you guys are wondering what the lack of update has been... I received all the parts I needed to re-assemble, however I took a closer look at all of my rocker arms / shafts and noticed significant wear on quite a few more of them... Thus I ordered 12 new bushings and 12 new shafts and will get the arms re-bushed (hopefully at a reasonable price). I got the parts from EBS ( Engine builder supply ) Very reasonable prices! Much better than Pelican Parts actually... Now I am waiting for them to arrive to continue...

Amazing pics and fun to follow! This is the most interesting thread on this forum in awhile! Well, except for Clive's favorite where there was a debate over the merits of a BMW, a VW or importing a 944 from the UK!.

Thanks guys, thanks pongo, that really means a lot to me - appreciate all the kind words.
I'm in the north end of Oshawa if anyone ever wants to stop by to help me out, drop me a line - jrolstin @ avrmotorsports.com
I am hoping to get in there this weekend to final torque my crank pulley, tighten my oil return line, install new aluminum oil return tubes and aluminum sump plate - should look pretty bling! PS the heat exchangers shipped the other day
Cheers

Iceman... did that pin shear...? or is that just prior to install. Doesn't seem as ovaled as mine were, but I don't have a pic to prove it. Yea that splined piece was a bastard...

Update
Sorry its been a while, I haven't got much done, have been really busy lately.
Here is a shot with fan belt and pulley installed, and I torqued both fasteners for both pulleys.
New oil return tubes laid out, old sump plate off and removed the old studs in preparation for new ones.
And here are the newly loctited in studs and a test fit of the new billet sump plate!
Cheers

i see you used expandable oil return tubes . So we can assume you didnt pull the cam towers off ? My leak is the oring and gasket between the chain box and cam towers which means retining cams ... so you just know by then i will be " all in " and doing new oil return tubes and base gaskets.
looks great so far ..

Yes, Shane Sam and I all crew customer cars for our team AVR Motorsports. I will be at the track for every F1200 race.
Our test day was a great success this past saturday the 7th. Shanes Dentist came who has a 2004 996 Turbo, and I got to drive it on track - wow they are quick! AWD just hooks up...
