Many of the replies you get that immediately fall silent after you reply (The "Is it still available?" is the most common) are phishing scams collecting valid e-mail addresses. Be careful and use a disposable e-mail address for the ad.

People are just fishing for a deal.
What really pisses me off is when someone doesn't reply to me because my message gets lost in all the BS.

I bought the BMW off Kijiji and got it for about 1/2 of what the seller was asking. I've bought and sold a bunch of stuff there and sometimes think it's just for the fun of it and, yes, have sellers travel to a convenient location too. In fact to all things listed I plead guilty, but as long as people list stuff that interests me i'll play.

My advice is to create an email address specifically for selling the car. E.g. 2007carrera.for.sale@xxxxx.com. This helps you avoid spam and phishing.

Only sold 2 cars privately in the last 7-8 years. Only autotrader produced the good leads. Kijiji and Craigslists was a complete waste of time. Spend the $35-40 for autotrader
