The new S4 is great. I test drove an auto and it wasn't very exciting, though. I suspect that a manual with a chip would be a different story. And there really is something to be said for new car reliability and warranty. Maybe a lease bust or 2 year old off lease would offer you some savings?

I had the opposite impression of the S-Tronic BTW...sounded great and lighting shifts with the double-clutch gearbox.

I think the new S6 is out this Spring and will have the 3.0T and S-Tronic instead of the V8.
That said...the 4.2 V8 and 6-speed manual is a nice combo.

Geoff, S4 is a great car... glad to hear you didn't pick up the S6, one of the doctors my wife works with has an S6 with the v10, nice car but the thing has been in the shop for a couple of weeks now still waiting parts... the dealer has been givin him better and better loaners to keep him off their backs. He says he still likes the car but two weeks plus to get fixed...I'd dump that sucka after it's fixed.
