Default Recommendations for pre-purchase inspection

What are your recommendations for pre-purchase inspection on a 997 in the Toronto area?

Would it be best to go to a Dealer, an indy? Are there specific guys to talk to?

Does anyone have experience with a PPI? Do you think it was worth the money and did it prove right over the long run?

Thanks for any help you can offer guys!

Consider it like a home inspection, pay the $300 some odd dollars for piece of mind. I would avoid a dealer, go to EU autowerks in the west end, G-Tek in the east end or Autoselect if you're north of Toronto.

I just can't say enough good things about Autowerks. Time and time again (including today), they impress me with their level of service, honesty, fairness and especially their care about me and my car(s). Can't get that anywhere else.

It's my pleasure to recommend them. Ryan and Dom are both great guys to deal with.

$178 at EU autoworks & $200 at Downtown Porsche. IMO, it's worth it...

I used downtown. I was happy with their thoroughness. They found Things I didn't expect them to.

Quite the endorsement..."Can't get that anywhere else."
Have you tried other indy mechanics??
I have serviced my P car at Autowerks, GTEK and Pfaff...they are all good but I don't go to them anymore.

My highest recommendation for Jack at GTEK. Don't think anyone knows P cars better.

LOL...NO.

- Jack is probably the most knowlegable P car jedi mechanic that I have met.
- Dom is very good with customer service

I now service my car at MVS motors. They are a small indepent gagrage in Markham, and I trust them 100% on anything they do on my cars. Nick use to work for Jack and now he has his own shop with his dad who is a 20 veteran master mechanic.

I bought my car through a used car lot (not my preference) in TO but had the car PPI'd at Pfaff. They had done most of the maintenence on the car through its life but were more than arm's length from the sale. I figured that would give me the most leverage if I bought the car and the PPI missed something. They ought to have already fixed anything wrong with the car in the past, or pointed it out to me before the sale.

All worked out well. One year later, I haven't had a single problem - except that the battery died.

+1 for EU Autowerks as well. Gtek was good but never had a good feeling with them. Probably just me. Others that I want to try is Jay at Lloyds autosport (Islington and Bloor) and Henry at Refined Motorsports on Evans ave in Etobicoke. Brent at Hunter motorsports is good for older Porshes so would not recommend him for 997. I may give MVS a try too in the future after recommendatin from Jake.
