Default Which new sports sedan?

To add to the flurry of "what car should I get" posts - I'm in the market for a new winter beater.

I'm looking at a new (E90) 328xi. 335xi or a 2011 A4/S4.

I know the F30 BMW (new 3 series platform) is coming - but the lease rates will be high and I can't get one till Spring, just in time for the car to sit idle as I drive the Porsches and bikes all summer.

So I'm limited a bit to existing stock of A4's or Bimmer, and that's not easy since I MUST get a manual tranny - a rare beast in today's wussy mush box market.

Am I missing any options?

Must be new. Must be manual. Must be AWD. Must have nav.

This precludes the tri-stars, NO MB comes with a manual 'box worldwide now which is a shame - since I really like the C300's.

Thanks for any suggetions.

RK

What about a Subaru Impreza? Legacy? Mini Countryman? Is Volvo still manking manual AWD cars?

Yeah - might be able to wrap my head around an STi (a bit boy racer) - but the rest aren't quite "upmarket" enough for me.

I need wood trim, mega-watt hi fi, nav, etc.

I missed the boat on ordering a bespoke E90 and regret it now. I don't really like the F30 and it'll be a year before you can custom order them - plus the lease rates will be insane at first.

Current 3 series are at 1.9%!

Great suggestions though - had never even thought of the Mini! ; )

You sure you can't get an E90 in the spec you want? How about a coupe instead?

Have you tried other indy mechanics??
I have serviced my P car at Autowerks, GTEK and Pfaff...they are all good but I don't go to them anymore.

Somebody wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Dude....relax......can't we all just get along?

Sorry .....if you ask for an opinion on a OPEN FORUM then you will get them.

I didn't realize that you have been chosen to be the Rennlist FORUM POLICE.

Other then the fact that the 996 C4S/TT are not SEDANS. The C4S and 996TT are superb winter cars. Quite a few guys DD theirs right through the winter.

Jake, I didn't realize that I offened you.

I got a hug and a coffee for you at the next meet.

PS. Sorry about that RK.

I just drove a 2010 Chipped A4 2.0QT tonight. It was pretty impressive. No S4 but much less $$$ Owner gets AVG 10.0 l/100klm (mixed driving -according to trip Comp) agressive driving.

Audi usually gives up to a $10,000 discount off year end S4s.

Out of your list I would take the S4 followed by the 335xi. Both are amazing cars. It looks like you are committed to German but at the lower price point I would absolutely choose the Infiniti G37X (6MT) over the A4 or the 328xi. The infiniti gives all of the luxury amenities you want with 325+HP, 6 speed manual transmission and a less expensive price tag.

Pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 328xi - dirt cheap, nearly fully loaded and great lease rates. I don't like F30's (coming soon) and the A4's have much higher lease rates. My frugality is kicking in (we only tripled sales this year). ; )

But this seems like a lot of car for $550 a month.

There are some niggling details and I'm in the throes of late stge negotiation - I'll keep you all posted.

RK

PS. Standard 3 series seats are horribly horrible.

I have an 2009 335xi which is great. Not the best in snow unless you put snow tires on it. S4 is good car too but I love the looks of the S5.
