Very good point. I would take a b8 s4 over a b7 rs4.

Like the others gave said, at the end of the day it's still an a4. Great car but not "rare" or "unique". A qcar.

There's one on ebay for $33,500 US now w/ 65k miles so you're right about the depreciation. I've always wanted an RS4 Avant as I think that car looks great.

You see, the thing is in Canada an RS4 is rare & unique. Who cares if other people think you're driving an A4. You're buying the car for the wrong reason if you care about that.

People would think you're driving an A4 until you stepped on the gas. When my dad had a D2 S8 he had countless mustangs wanting to race him thinking he was in an A4........you know the rest.

One thing I know for sure....the Porsche users on here is so much more helpful and responsive than the Audi guys over at 6speed forum. I had one response...LOL

You think that the Audi enthusiast would be all over it telling me to trade in my 996 for an RS4.

The RS4 is a great car, I've seen a few nice ones for sale at dealerships or privately over the summer and they sell quickly so there is still a strong demand for this car. Make sure to get it checked out properly by an Audi dealership and that the DRC recall has been done on this car, they also are known to build up carbon in the engine that reduces the power but that can be cleaned out by a dealership. Brake jobs are also pricey on this car I think around 2K for the front if you need pads and rotors. They are rare cars but expensive to work on, hopefully the one you are looking at is coming from a Audi dealership and comes with a pre owned warranty.

Have you considered the B8 S4...you can buy a nice used B8 S4 with warranty still left on it for around the same price the used RS4s are going for.

I say buy whatever you like. If you're not sure what you like then it probably isn't a good idea to buy.

Sell the Porsche, buy the RS4. If you change your mind, sell the RS4, buy another Porsche. GL

Thanks for all the great advice...well said about getting into the RS4 and if I change my mind I can always sell the RS4 and get back into the newer 997.

So I'm going to try and sell my P car on the forum. You guys get first dips and of course the best price. If I dont I will trade it in. I have 15days.

FS post coming with all details on the car.

Nice dillema to have. Just sold my MK4 .:R32 and bought a B7 S4 Avant....

Really wanted an RS4 however love the avant!!! Not sure if I would choose it over my 993 C4S however.

Having said all that, I would sell a 996 for an RS4 all day long. As mentioned, if you don't love it, you can always sell it an buy another 996!

Good luck with your decision!

And post pictures of the RS4 when you get it. Man, I would love one of those.
