Default Viola Metallic

Has anyone seen or actually own a Viola Metallic color 996 in Canada? I've been told it's a rare color and wondering just how rare it is?

I almost bought a 99 996 Coupe in that colour four years ago locally. However, it was formally an US import.

So that's two in T.O.

I've found the car not the easiest to photograph due to the ever changing color hues. I've also gotten my car repainted on the front and fully polished recently, see thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...has-begun.html

contact Porsche Germany and they will tell you how many were made and what countries. or Adrian Streathers book should also show you that. Car looks great btw.

No, just checked - he doesn't list production numbers cross referenced to external colours. In fact, many suggest that the factory doesn't do this or if they do, won't release these numbers. Funny how both these two local cars are cab's. Could it be that it was one of a group of optional colours reserved for cabs?

I've seen Avio's car and the colour is neat - seems to change tone in sun or shade.

At the (only) GTG I went to last fall or at the paint shop? Yes the color is very uniqute in that respect when it changes color, almost chameleon-like.

One of my friend came across this ad http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ439110354

Pictures referenced in this ad are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/9097210...7632220324880/ , it's quite interesting all 3 of the 996 in GTA I've come across so are are early 996 C2 Cab with grey interior, quite a coincidence?!

Messaged the seller as I'm curious about the car and its background.

Who knows, the seller wrote me back it is a high mileage car and he's going through converting the front end to 997, was going to paint it Guard Red but may rethink that now he knows it's a rare factory color.

If he decides to stay with Viola Metallic, then we can get purpleporsche to come out one day for a triple Viola Metallic photoshoot.

As for polarizer or graduated filter, not sure what polarizer would do, have to try it next year I guess, I imagine it will flatten out the color somewhat.

did you ever end up seeing this color in the flesh? any thoughts....i have shortlisted this color for my gt3 and also in Canada.

Brewster, Oak Green, Porsche racing and forest green are also on the list as of now...but dealer is pushing heavily for Viola and i kinda of like the subtle but pop colors....

thanks for any impressions of it.
