Looks like I was the obligatory mechanical casualty for the day.......

Car just quit at Garth and Limeridge as we were coming through Hamilton.

Guy in a Honda behind me stopped and we pushed it into a parking lot.

90 minutes for the tow truck to show......

As far as I can tell so far, it looks like the main fuel pump has packed it in. It may well be original!

Quite the way to end the season.

Hope you guys enjoyed your lunch!

That is a shame. Agreed, I got separated for the 4th time, came up on the 403 to Toronto and said $%$# it I am going home.

That said, thanks to all who arranged it, I know it is not easy and the maps did not work out so well. It was far to busy and next time the key is to avoid those small towns on a sunday which are packed with people.

cheers

I agree way too busy of a route. Was good until we got to Hamilton then it all fell apart. Perhaps somewhere out in the boonies would be better next time. I took off somewhere around Sydnam rd.

I appreciate the efforts to all that put it together though, maybe better luck next time.

Sorry guys. I tried my best to keep everyone together but it was falling apart at the seams.
Issues: - google maps directions was not correct. Major fail distinguising Old Mohalk vs. Mohak rd.
- last minute changes to route due to marathon, po presence and bad roads made a mess of things, trying to keep the route within close to original area was a mess.
-My GPS was late in showing up coming roads and my navigator was missing all the turns. Needs map update for a while now but never an issue in past drives this summer.
-too much traffic in Hamilton
-closed off roads ONLY TODAY due to movie filming
-First time Tew Falls was charging. 2 times before this past summerp. had no entrance fees. I did talk to them and the group that made it that far was not charged fees
-although some cars said they would leave early. .. They told the group not to follow them. ..some of the group followed them.
- some joined the group of corvettes going the wrong way
- in the end since we were delayed and waiting for many groups that split apart we were so late at Tuckers that the buffet was done.
- wow ive done drives and never has it been soo bad. NOTHING went as planned. :-(

I truly am sorry folks. Thanks to all that came out and completed part or all the route. Thanks for the help Chris and Nick for help within the Hamilton area. I was spinning circles and about to throw out the maps and GPS out the window.

Well I thought that the organizing by Chris and Saturn was superb. I only wish that I didn't have a prior commitment at noon or I would have stayed until the end. Thankfully no one followed me when I left the pack.
The turn out was great and I think everyone enjoyed the roads that were selected.
I'm looking forward to seeing the footage shot by the white BMW from his rear window cam. Anyone know who is is so he can be asked?

Don't feel bad, you were not the only one. After we made the u turn, I was separated with a few other guys. Then I heard a big pop and sure enough she was overheating. At least it did not happen to my pcar .

With that said, many thanks to Saturn and Chris for organizing this event. I know it was not easy...

Cheers,
Tim

Great group' amazing cars, epic roads.

Lessons learned today:
- dont drive a route you not 100% familiar
- do not follow Corvettes
- when you drive the route adjust google maps for issues
- drive away from urban areas - like the other 4 drives I did this past summer
- update you GPS street maps every 2 years as we have many detours and constructions
- dont trust Google Maps
- if you plan to exit early stay at back

This was a complicated map and it did have many many turns and the drive through the city had stop lights every 5 feet. I got lost myself.
Next time I'll stick to routes that I know well.

I thank everyone who was out that it was a great day to be out driving and that I had great conversations with some new folks.

See you in other drives and meets.

When I get the video from the guy that was filming with the Gopro camera I will let you know.

cheers

like I said "A" for effort it. Good roads , just too complex and too close to towns. This year with another group we did a cruize via back roads to Huntsville, it was amazing.
Again, thanks for setting it up, next year I am sure will be better I still had alot of fun and spent time with my 10 year old son in the Porsche!

Here are some pics all taken by my son:

Gotta fix that license plate bracket on my car

Thanks Saturn for putting the day together. Despite the problems, it was still fun! Nice to see the different cars.

Glad you all had fun, even though it sounds like it got messed up.

I really wanted to come, but owning a restaurant that has its busiest day on Sundays kind of screws things for me.

I'm sure the weather played a huge role in traffic volumes in these small towns, everyone was out and about today. I was busy right up to closing time.

Perhaps one Saturday (please not a Sunday), we could arrange a fun run starting arround the escarpment. The starting point could be my restaurant, large parking lot and right near the escarpment in Milton. There are plenty of nice rides north and west.

Anyways something to think of for next year.
